Question : INCREASE IN SPEED LIMIT



(a) whether the Railways have enhanced the speed limit of trains or introduced new fast speed trains to reduce the travel time in rail journey in Andhra Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the names of States through which these fast speed trains pass?

(a) to (c) Indian Railways does not run/speed up train services on state wise basis as railway network runs across state boundaries. However, speeding up of trains is a constant endeavour and continuous process on Indian Railways and is dependent on constant optimization of the investments made by Railways in modernization of technology, high powered locos, modern coaches, better tracks etc. Furthermore, Indian Railways strives to provide faster connectivity between stations and to this end, Indian Railways has introduced the following Duronto Express services serving Andhra Pradesh during the last few years:

i) 12285/12286 Nizamuddin-Secunderabad Duronto Express (Bi-weekly) w.e.f. 14.03.2010 passing through Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra.

ii) 12220/12219 Secunderabad-Lokmanya Tilak (T) Duronto Express (Bi-weekly) w.e.f. 22.02.2011 passing through Karnataka, Maharashtra.

iii) 22204/22203 Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Duronto Express (Tri-weekly) w.e.f. 11.07.2012.

The above Duranto Express services are end to end services with no commercial stoppages enroute.
