Question : PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF HANDICRAFT SECTOR



(a) the details of the schemes in the current financial year plan, for the promotion and development of handicraft sector;

(b) the details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred during each of the last two years, State-wise; and

(c) the projected employment growth in the handicraft sector, State-wise?

(a): This office has been implementing following schemes for the promotion and development of Handicraft sector/artisans on all India basis:

 1. Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY). 2. Marketing Support & Services Scheme 3. Design & Technology Upgradation Scheme 4. Human Resource Development Scheme 5. Research & Development Scheme. 6. Handicrafts artisans Comprehensive Welfare Scheme. 7. Infrastructure and Technology Development Scheme. 
(b): This office does not allocate funds state-wise/U.T. wise. However, the expenditure incurred State-wise/UT wise for the last two financial year (2013-14, 2014-15) is enclosed at Annexure.

(c): This office does not project employment growth state-wise/U.T. wise. However, as per the final working Group report for Handicraft Sector, the current employment as in 2010-11 is 6.7 million; however, the number of individuals to be employed with sector by 2016-17 is estimated to be 12.29 million. The CAGR during the period 2012-13 till 2016-17 is assumed @10%.
