Question : ODF Villages

(a) the number and percentage of ODF Villages which have completed 1st and 2nd Level verification under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, State-wise;

(b) the district-wise number of toilets constructed in West Bengal from 2014-15 to 2019-20 under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; and

(c) whether additional toilets would be constructed under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as per demand from the State Governments and if so, the details thereof?

(a) As per protocol for verification of Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages under SBM(G), the 1st level verification has to be carried out within 3 months of the declaration of ODF villages and the 2nd level verification to be carried out around six months after the 1st verification. State/UT-wise number ODF declared villages and number of ODF villages for which 1st and 2nd level verification completed respectively under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) [SBM(G)], as per the data reported by the States/UTs on online Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) of SBM(G) as on 2.3.2020, is given at Annexure-1.

(b) District-wise, individual household latrines (IHHLs) constructed from 2014-15 to 2019-20 under SBM(G) in West Bengal as per IMIS of SBM(G) as on 2.3.2020 is given at Annexure-2.

(c) The Government has advised all the States including West Bengal to ensure that no one is left behind under SBM(G) and to identify the missed out rural households, if any, and support them to construct toilets under the programme. Further, the Government has approved phase II of SBM(G) programme from 2020-21 to 2024-25, which inter alia envisages on providing toilet facilities to the newly emerging eligible rural households in the country to ensure sustainability of ODF status.
