(a) whether the Government has initiated a Sugar Technology Mission for technology upgradation in sugar industry;

(b) if so, the details of technologies undertaken for evaluation;

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b), (c) & (d):The Sugar Technology Mission has so far evaluated twenty three technologies for technical upgradation of the sugar industry. Out of these, the evaluation of fifteen technologies have been completed successfully and eight of them have already been replicated in sugar industry. The sugar industry is likely to be benefited in terms of increase in sugar recovery %, reduction in sugar losses and consumption of chemicals, savings in power and energy and production of superior quality of sugar comparable to international grade due to implementation of these technologies. The details of technologies undertaken by the Technology Mission for evaluation and those successfully evaluated and implemented are at Annexure I & II respectively.
