(a) whether site for development of an Ultra Mega Power Project in Gujarat has been
finalized;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the successful bidder has been identified for the said project;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) if not, the reasons for the delay and the steps being taken by the Government in this
regard?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The site for development of an Ultra Mega Power Project in Gujarat
has been finalized. The site is located south of Tundrawand village in Mundra Taluka (abour
60 kms from Bhuj), Kutch district of Coastal Gujarat area. The site selection and assessment
of port facilities for the project was carried out in association with the State Government.
(c) to (e) : The technical and financial bids for the Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project were
invited by the Shell Company viz. coastal Gujarat Power Ltd., a subsidiary company of Power
Finance Corporation (PFC). M/s Tata Power Company Ltd. was chosen as the successful
bidder as it quoted the lowest evaluated levelised tariff of Rs.2.26 per units for 25 years. The
Project documents were handed over to the successful bidder on 23rd April, 2007.
