Question : Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project

(a) whether the Government has offered land to the Railways to build Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail network;

(b) if so, the purpose for which the land was acquired and its costs;

(c) whether the Government has received any recognition in this regard and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has made any research and/or asked for technical feasibility report to set up alongside high-speed rail and roadways; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): Total land requirement for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) project has been estimated as 1415.8 hectare out of which 302.2 hectare is Government and forest land. Requisition for the total land requirement including government land has been submitted to the district authorities in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Estimated cost of total land is ? 9000 crore approximately. The cost of Government land separately cannot be given at this stage.

(d) and (e): The technical feasibility study for the MAHSR project was conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project’s alignment is based on the feasibility report.
