(a) the total number of Gram Panchayats in the country including in Uttar Pradesh where facility of piped water supply has been provided by the Government, State-wise;
(b) the time by which the above facility is likely to be provided in remaining Gram panchayats of the country; and
(c) the details of the action plan and timeline fixed in this regard?

(a) The state-wise total number of Gram Panchayats in the country including Uttar Pradesh where facility of piped water supply has been provided by the Government is at Annexure.
(b) & (c) Rural drinking water supply is a state subject. This Ministry provides technical & financial assistance to states for improving the coverage of safe drinking water to rural population. States are empowered to plan, design and execute rural drinking water projects. However, this Ministry endeavours to provide piped water supply on priority basis to every households in rural areas. In this respect, this Ministry has prepared a Strategic Plan for the rural drinking water sector for the period 2011-2022 for providing the piped water supply in the rural areas. As per this, by 2022, the goal is to cover 90% of rural households with piped water supply.
