Question : Progress under Street Vendors Act

(a) the details of physical progress made till now under compliance of street vendors Act in urban areas of Rajasthan, district-wise;
(b) whether the Government intends to instruct Rajasthan and other states for compliance of above and within the stipulated time limit so that the poor street vendors may be able to avail the benefits of Government schemes;
(c) if so, the time by which the same is likely to be done; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): As reported by State Government of Rajasthan, the district-wise details of number of street vendors identified, Certificate of Vending issued, Identity Cards issued and number of vending zones notified under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 are at Annexure. The State Government has also reported that surveys have been carried out in 190 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Town Vending Committees have been constituted in 189 ULBs and 2 Vendors’ Market have been developed.

(b)to(d) The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 is implemented by respective States/UTs by framing their respective Rules, Schemes, Bye-laws and Plan for Street Vending. From time to time, Ministry draws attention of the States/UTs on implementation of various provisions of the Act, by way of issue of letters / circulars and discussion in meetings as well as conducting reviews at the level of Minister, Secretary and Mission Director.
