Question : IMPLEMENTATION OF SACHAR COMMITTEE REPORT



(a) whether the Government is considering to constitute an autonomous Assessment and Monitoring Authority (AMA) to evaluate the extent of development benefits,which accrue to different Socio-Religious Categories (SRCs) through various programmes based on Sachar Committee Report;

(b) if so, the steps the Government propose to take towards implementing the same;

(c) the functions and powers granted to AMA;

(d) whether AMA will have a Central level body or have branches at the State level; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) The Planning Commission has constituted an autonomous Assessment and Monitoring Authority (AMA) to evaluate the extent of development benefits accruing to different socio- religious communities (SRCs) through various programmes; to visit various places to have first hand information about conditions of Minorities; and to give directions to the concerned Central Ministries/Departments, State Governments, U.T. Administrations to implement effectively the programme for Minorities. No State level branch is envisaged.
