Question : ORGANIC FARMING



(a) whether the Government proposes to implement scheme of organic farming development programme for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Tribals dominated areas in Madhya Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to provide a special package to the States for the said purpose;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): Government is promoting organic farming across the country through various programmes under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Network Project on Organic Farming under ICAR and National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) under Ministry of Commerce & Industry for the farming community including the farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Tribals dominated areas in Madhya Pradesh. The pattern of financial assistance under these programmes shown at Annexure-I. Funds released for organic farming during the last three years and current year is shown at Annexure-II.

States have flexibility to propose projects for development of region specific organic farming. Several State Governments including Madhya Pradesh have formulated organic farming policies and set up organic missions to implement state specific programmes.
