MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION(SHRI PRAFUL PATEL)

(a): Cochin International Airport was promoted by the State Government of Kerala on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) basis.There are about 16,500 shareholders comprising of the Government of Kerala,State PSUs,Central PSUs, Banks,NRIs and Public.There shareholding is: State Government and its PSUs,(35.15%),Central PSUs(Air India- 3.38%, BPCL-3.54%),Banks,NRIs & Public (20.48%) and Directors (37.45%).

(b): Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has acquired about 1400 acres of land for the purposes of developing the airport,out of which 600 acres of land has been earmarked for setting up of the Aerotropolis (airport city).CIAL envisions developing a full-fledged airport city,surrounding the airport with State of the Art facilities for the various users and stakeholders.

(c): CIAL has plans to set up an Aircraft Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul Center (MRO) and an aviation academy.
