Question : Repairing of Roads

(a) whether the Government proposes to establish a separate fund for rebuilding and repair of roads damaged due to floods and recent heavy rain in the southern part of the country especially in Karnataka;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the alternate measures being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) No Sir.
(b) Does not arise.
(c) Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is mainly responsible for development & maintenance of National Highways. Different activities of Maintenance & Repairs of National Highways are carried out under sub-heads like Ordinary repairs, Periodical Renewals, Special Repairs and Flood damage repairs for within the available resources. During the year 2021-22, an amount of Rs 8.0 Crore has been allocated to the State of Karnataka under the Sub-head FDR for carrying out repairs and maintenance of NHs damaged due to the recent rains and floods. Major reconstruction / Rehabilitation requirements due to the damages caused by the rains/floods if any are also carried out by including such requirements in the Annual Plans of the concerned State including that of the State of Karnataka.
