MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( SHRI R. VELU )
(a) &(b) : The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh had requested in 2003 for extension of railway line upto foot hills of Srisailam Hills within Mahabubnagar and Kurnool Districts. The suggested line between Hyderabad and Srisailam via Kalwakurthy would be about 160 kms long and would cost not less than Rs.480 cr. In view of heavy throw-forward of new line projects coupled with the severe resource constraints, the proposal could not be taken up for consideration.
