(a) whether the Government is considering to implement a Satellite Navigation System/programme named ‘NAVIC’ for the welfare of fishermen in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the funds which have been allocated by the Government and utilized for this purpose?

(a) to (c) : The Department of Space, Government of India has informed that a NavIC based message dissemination system has been developed for the use of fishermen community. The messages are delivered in a mobile application through a compact NavIC device. It is also informed that through this system, fishermen are alerted about high waves, approaching cyclone, information on potential fishing zone and geo-referencing applications. It is further informed that currently the system is transiting from developmental phase to initial operational phase.
