(a) the number of Braille presses located in the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the Governemnt proposes to set up more Braille presses and upgrade/ modernise the existing ones in the country;
(c) if so, the details thereof along with the funds sanctioned to the States for the purpose and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the time by which the said proposal is likely to be implemented?

(a) As per infomation available with the Ministry, there are 21 Braille Presses in the country. State/UT-wise details are attached at Annexure-A.
(b) to (d) The Government has initiated action for formulation of a Central Sector Scheme on “Support for establishment/modernization/capacity augmentation of Braille Presses”. Details of the Scheme are being finalized. So far no funds have been sanctioned to the States.
