Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
a) the details of protected monuments/temples/forts/heritage sites and museums lying in dilapidated conditions due to natural calamities and on the verge of collapse due to lack of proper maintenance along with the action proposed to be taken for restoration of these monuments, States/UTs and monument-wise;

b) the monument/temple/fort/heritage sites/museum-wise details of the financial assistance granted and expenditure incurred for the conservation, protection and establishment during the last three years, State-wise and whether the funds provided, are insufficient, and if not, the reason therefor;

c) whether the National Monuments Authority (NMA) has asked Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to re-examine the list of protected monuments along with the details of denotified/missing/untraceable monuments/forts/temples, State-wise and if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government for the renovation of damaged monuments;

d) whether the Government provided funds for maintenance of heritage buildings not declared by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as protected sites and if so, the details thereof; and

e) whether the Government has any scheme to promote the involvement of youth in the conservation of heritage and monuments in the country and if so, the details thereof?

a) No Madam. The protected monuments of ASI are in a fairly good state of preservation.

b) The State-wise details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred for conservation of protected monuments and museums of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for last three years, are given in annexure I & II respectively. Adequate funds are provided for conservation as per requirements.

c) No, Madam. The National Monuments Authority is not mandated for this purpose as per the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2010. However, NMA has requested ASI to send an updated and corrected list of missing/ untraceable monuments under Delhi Circle of ASI.

d) Yes Madam. ASI has taken up conservation work of some unprotected monuments from available funds. The details are given in annexure III.
e) No Madam. No such scheme is there at present.
