Question : RAJASTHAN ATOMIC POWER STATION



(a) the share of power presently being given to Rajasthan from Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS);

(b) whether the State Government of Rajasthan has been demanding for enhancement of its share of power from RAPS;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Union Government thereto; and

(d) the time by when the Rajasthan will get its due share?

(a) Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) has four units in operation and two units in advanced stages of construction. The power of units 1&2 is fully allocated to Rajasthan in addition to 36% share from units 3&4.

(b) Yes, Sir.Since the unit 2,has been shut down for En-masse feeder replacement.

(c) The allocation from central generating stations is adjusted from time to time considering the requirements of the beneficiary states and availability of power in an electricity region. Rajasthan has also a share of 13% from Narora Atomic Power Station in Uttar Pradesh.

(d) Unit 2 of RAPS, with full allocation of 200 MWe to Rajasthan, will commence operation from September 2009. Rajasthan will also have a share of 20% from units 5&6 of RAPS, which are expected to come on line in 2009-10.
