(a) whether the cases of robbery in banks/ ATMs have been increasing since demonetization;
(b) if so, the details of Banks/ATMs robbed since demonetization indicating the amount involved therein till date across the country, State/UT-wise including Jammu and Kashmir; and
(c) the steps taken to strengthen the security at Banks/ATMs to check such incidents in future?

Statement as referred in reply to part (a) to (c) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. *155 for answer on 10.03.2017regarding Robbery in Banks/ATM’s tabled by Shri Ashwini Kumar, MP.
(a) & (b):Information provided by Reserve Bank of India(RBI) for July 2016 to September 2016 & Oct-2016 to December 2016, bank-wise and state-wise, of the number of incidents of robbery and the amount involved (in branches, cash vans and ATMs) is Annexed.
(c) : Under advice of RBI, Banks from time to time review and as required, enhance security arrangements at their branches and ATMs including coverage of ATM sites by CCTVs and ensuring adequate training of security staff posted at ATMs. Banks review and strengthen the security arrangement in their branches / ATMs, to deal with instances of robberies etc. and to deal with risk perceptions emerging from any such incident.
