(a) whether the Railways are taking the financial assistance from private sector
to develop the railways in the country especially South Central Railways;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the manner in which the above projects are likely to be funded; and
(d) the time by which the said projects are likely to be completed?

(a) to (c): Certain areas such as development of world -class stations, establishment of super specialty
hospitals/medical colleges, setting up of manufacturing units for rolling stock, setting up of perishable
cargo centres, infrastructure projects for port connectivity and several activities in catering/tourism
and hospitality area have been identified for possible execution through public-private partnership route.
In South Central Railway, Obulavaripalle-Krishnapatnam New line project (112 Kms.) has been taken up with
Private Sector Participation through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited
(RVNL) in partnership with Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited and Bramhani Industries Limited along with
NMDC Limited and Government of Andhra Pradesh in Andhra Pradesh.
Secunderabad and Tirupati stations in South Central Railway have been identified for development
into world class stations through Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
(d): No definite time-frame can be indicated at this stage.
