to the reply given to Starred Question No.455 on 26.4.2000 regarding traditional fishermen and state:

(a) whether the Government have finalised the enhancement of subsidy for purchase of Out Board Motors (OBM);

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) the time by which the decision is likely to be taken in this regard; and

(e) the approximate number of fishermen in the country; State-wise?

(a) to (d): No, Sir. An EFC Memo for enhancement of subsidy for the purchase of Out Board Motors has been prepared and circulated to various appraisal agencies. A decision on the proposal has been delayed due to non-receipt of adequate response from some of the appraisal agencies. A decision on the proposal is being expedited.
