(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the total quantity of wheat distributed during the last two years, State-wise?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD & PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION ( DR. AKHILESH PRASAD SINGH )

(a) & (b): Yes Sir. Keeping in view the dwindling stocks of wheat, it has been decided by the Government of India to revise the allocation of wheat, under TPDS, for all States/UTs., including Kerala, on the basis of average monthly offtake during the last three years. The reduction in wheat allocation for BPL & AAY families has been compensated by increasing the rice allocation correspondingly. The Government of India is prepared to increase the allocation of rice for APL families also, if any State/UT Government requests so, where-ever the quantity of wheat is revised on the basis of reason stated as above. Details of revised wheat allocation are enclosed at Annexure-I.

(c): The details of total quantity of wheat distributed (Offtake by the States/UTs.) during the last two years, State-wise, is enclosed at Annexure-II and III.
