Question : Piped Cooking Gas

(a) whether the Government proposes to havemaximum mileage for CNG and piped cooking gas to households in the country by 2030;

(b) if so, the details of cities that are to be covered under the gas pipeline by 2030; and

(c) the details of number of licenses given for retail CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in the gas bidding roundup and the achievements of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) therefor?

(a) to (c): Yes Sir. Upto the 10th City Gas Distribution (CGD) bidding round, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorized 228 Geographical Areas (GAs), comprising 407 districts in 27 States/Union Territories covering 53 per cent of the geographical area and 70 per cent of its population, for the development of CGD networks in the country. In the 11th round, PNGRB has received bids against 61 GAs covering 215 (212 full & 3 part) districts and Letters of Intent (LoIs) have been issued for 52 GAs. Further, PNGRB has invited bid on 07.01.2022 for 5 GAs covering 27 districts under the 11A CGD Bidding Round. Together these rounds will potentially cover 98% of population & 88% of geographical area of the country.

As on 30.11.2021, the authorized entities have commissioned 85.05 lakh PNG connections and 3632 CNG stations in the country.
