(a) whether the Government has cleared a proposal to purchase artillery weapons / guns for the army;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the countries from which such guns are likely to be purchased; and
(d) the time by which the artillery guns are likely to be inducted in the army?

(a) to (d): Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of Mounted Gun System (MGS) for the Army has been granted by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on 22nd November, 2014. The acquisition will be carried out under Buy and Make (Indian) category of Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2013. Timelines for the procurement are also guided by the provisions of DPP 2013.
