Question : ESTIMATE OF EXPENDITURE FOR BHARAT NIRMAN



(a) the estimate of total expenditure for the `Bharat Nirman`;

(b) whether the fund is to be borne entirely by the Union Government or the same is also to be shared by the State and the private sector;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) the total expenditure incurred on each of the six rural infrastructure areas covered under `Bharat Nirman` through the Budgets of the States as well as the Centre;

(e) the allocation of funds under these six rural infrastructure areas in the Budgets of the States and the Centre in the current financial year; and

(f) the plan of the Government to mobilise resources to finance the projects under `Bharat Nirman`?

(a): The preliminary estimate of total expenditure for the Bharat Nirman has now been assessed as about Rs 1,76,000 crore against the earlier assessment of Rs 1,74,000 crore.

(b) (c) & (f): The fund requirements will be met through an appropriate mix of budgetary support by Centre and States, external aid, market borrowing and beneficiary contribution (in some cases).

(d) & (e): The total estimated fund requirement for each of the six rural infrastructure areas and the allocation of funds for these six components in 2005-06 in the Central budget are as below.

Bharat Nirman as a time bound Plan has been launched only in the current year (2005-06) and therefore at this point of time no estimates can be made of the expenditure incurred by the Centre and the States.
