(a) to (c) The schemes for flood management are formulated and implemented by concerned States as per their priority. The Union Government supplements the efforts of the States by providing technical guidance and also promotional financial assistance for management of floods in critical areas. The Ministry provides technical guidance to state Governments through Central Water Commission (CWC) and Ganga Flood Control Commission (GFCC) in formulation of flood management Projects. At Present there are 27 project of flood management of various States under techno-economic appraisal in CWC and GFCC as per Annexure I. The examination & appraisal of the projects depends on timely submission of compliance by State Governments on observations of appraisal agencies.
