(a) The construction of Badanala Irrigation Project was started in the year 1981 to provide
irrigation facilities to 9874 hectare of Culturable Command Area (CCA) in Rayagada district
of Orissa. As reported by the State Government, the reasons for delay in completion of the
project are due to the delay in forest clearance, acquisition of private lands for the project
works, prices escalation and financial constraints. The project got the financial assistance
from World Bank during 1995 and was completed in 2004-05.
(b) The year wise funds provided to the project from 1981 to 2005 is given in Annexure-1.
(c)to(d) As reported by the State Government of Orissa, the project has been provided
technical support by putting a Sub-Division for the project to take up the day-to-day
maintenance work. An amount of Rs.40.00 lakhs has been provided in the budget
allotment for clearance of liability and maintenance of the project. There is also no leakage
in the main dam. The State Government is providing rubber seals to the gates of the spillway
where leakage has been observed.
