Question : CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMY PROGRAMME



(a) whether CISCO systems plan to set up 34 networking academies in India to train about one lakh professionals over the next five years;

(b) if so, furnish details of the proposals finalised/under consideration and likely impact thereof, particularly on I.T. institutes and professional training facilities in the country particularly in Maharashtra;

(c) the details of regional academies proposed to be covered under CISCO plan in the country particularly in Maharashtra; and

(d) the action plan worked out by the CISCO Networking Academy Programme and investment proposed in this regard?

(a): CISCO has announced a plan of setting up 53 Regional Networking Academies and 413 Local Academies.

(b): From the announcement made by CISCO, a total of 3 Regional and 30 Local Networking Academies are to be set up in the State of Maharashtra. According to CISCO, these Academies will educate and train a pool of people in the States in highly employable and globally recognized IT skills including Networking and help proliferate IT/Networking skills to masses with the potential of creating skilled manpower to cater to the Networking infrastructure.
