MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY (SHRI E.V.K.S. ELANGOVAN)
(a) to (d): Cement is fully delicensed and decontrolled commodity and its export is not channelised through the Government. It is determined by international market forces of demand and supply. Availability of adequate infrastructure at ports to handle the bulky item like cement and nearness to the ports also contribute to the level of exports. Based on the information made available by Cement Manufacturers` Association, the actual export of clinker/cement in 2003-04 was 9.00 million tonnes and it is expected that in 2004-05, it would touch 10 million tonnes.
