(a) : Coal India Limited (CIL) is under the administrative control of Department of Coal. CIL and its seven subsidiary companies are producing and marketing coal. The names, places of the mines being operated and the grades of coal being produced are given below :

(b) : There is no system of issuance of permits for coal. Consumers in both core sectors and non-core sectors are drawing coal from CIL sources. Coal to core sectors is supplied as per linkages accorded by standing linkage committee constituted in the Department. Coal to non-core sector consumers is supplied against linkage/ sponsorship. Coal is supplied under various sales schemes like open sales scheme, trade channel networks etc.
