Question : Land Acquired for Coal Production

(a) the name of the companies under the control of Coal India Limited (CIL) that have acquired agriculture and forest land for coal production during the last three years along with the area acquired by each of these companies;
(b) the company-wise area of the land lying unused out of the total acquired land at present;
(c) the reasons for this unnecessary acquisition; and
(d) the company-wise area of the coal mines being fully utilized and the land adjacent to them along with the details of the use thereof''?

(a): There are seven coal producing subsidiaries namely, ECL, BCCL, CCL, NCL, WCL, SECL and MCL under the control of Coal India Limited that have acquired agriculture and forest land for coal production. The subsidiary-wise details of land acquisition in the last three years are as under:-

(c): No land was acquired unnecessarily. Land will be utilised as per mine development plan.
