Question : National Dairy Plan

(a) whether the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for inclusion of some new States in the list of States to be covered under National Dairy Plan (NDP)-1;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor along with the latest list of States to be covered under National Dairy Plan-1;

(c) whether the outputs of NDP-1 as targeted would be achieved within the period of NDP-1; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its approval on 17 June 2015 for inclusion of Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh in the list of States to be covered under National Dairy Plan Phase I (NDP-I). Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are primarily inhabited by tribal population having substantial milch animal population and have the potential for coverage under NDP-I. Uttarakhand has also been included under NDP-I considering the potential for implementation of Ration Balancing Programme, Fodder Development and Village Based Milk Procurement System. Accordingly, NDP-I is being implemented in the 18 major milk producing States of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana (after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh), Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Kerala constituting 90% of the milk production.
