Question : Appointment of Nodel Officer

(a) the details of the States which have appointed and those which have not appointed Nodal officers to inquire into the cases relating to implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 till date;
(b) whether the Union Government has taken or proposes to take any steps for appointment of the said nodal officers in those States which have not appointed the said Nodal officers;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if note, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 does not provide for appointment of Nodal Officers to inquire into cases relating to implementation of the Act. However, the following States have appointed the Nodal Officers under the Act :-

Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Bangal, A&N Island, Daman & Diu and D&N Haveli.
