Question : CONSTRUCTION OF TOILETS

(a) the target fixed for construction of toilets in the country for the next five years;

(b) the details of action plan prepared by the Government to achieve this target;

(c) whether complaints have been received regarding misappropriation of funds being provided for construction of toilets;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard;

(e) whether the Government proposes to construct 48,000 toilets every day in rural areas under Swachhata Abhiyan;

(f) if so, the details thereof and the action plan chalked out therefor, State/UT-wise;

(g) the growth rate of construction of toilets in the country at present; and

(h) whether there has been decrease in the growth rate during the last few years and if so, the steps proposed to be taken by the Government thereon and reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) As per the Baseline Survey on Sanitation 2013, 11.11 crore household toilets have to be constructed in the next 5 years. Out of this, 8.84 crore households are eligible to receive Incentives under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) {SBM(G)}, or support under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS).

(b) The targets fixed under the SBM(G), being implemented by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation for the constru- ction of toilets in the next five years is as under :-
