(a) the salient features of National Electronics Policy (NEP) 2012;

(b) whether the Government is considering to amend the NEP 2012 to make country an electronics manufacturing hub;

(c) if so, whether the Government is working on a negative list of items that cannot be imported due to security concerns;

(d) if so, whether the Government has decided to indigenously manufacture items that cannot be imported due to security concerns ; and

(e) if so, the steps taken by the Government to promote indigenous manufacturing of electronics goods and to make the country an electronic hardware manufacturing hub?

(a): The National Policy on Electronics (NPE 2012) was notified in October 2012 with the vision to create a globally competitive electronics design and manufacturing industry to meet the country`s needs and serve the international market. The salient features of NPE 2012 enunciating the objectives and strategies are annexed as Annexure-1.

(e): The steps being taken to promote Electronics/IT Hardware Manufacturing in the country are mentioned in Annexure-2.
