Question : Reservations to Anglo-Indian Community

(a) whether the Government is aware that the people belonging to Anglo-Indian community in many of the cities are poor both economically and socially;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there is any proposal from the Government side to provide reservations to Anglo-Indian community in both educational institutions and employment sector;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) whether the Government has made any efforts for the welfare of Anglo-Indian community by supporting them financially and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Meeting with the representatives of Anglo-Indian community are held from time to time and based on the interactions with them State/Union Territories are advised to look into the problems and grievances of the community. Details of the economic and social status of any community, including the Anglo Indians, are not maintained by this Ministry separately.

(c) No, Sir.

(d) & (e) All the welfare schemes of Ministry of Minority Affairs are available to the members of Anglo Indian community belonging to the notified minority. Details of the benefits availed by the minority communities under these schemes are available at http://www.minorityaffairs.gov.in.
