(a) whether the Government proposes to grant Rs. 540 crore for distributing power in
remote and inaccessible areas in the country through Decentralized Distribution Generation
(DDG) projects as reported in the Mint dated February 13, 2008; and
(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The Government has sanctioned Rs.540 crore as subsidy in XIth Plan
under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana for rural electrification in remote and
inaccessible areas in the country through Decentralized Distribution Generation (DDG) projects.
