(b)&(c): Yes Madam, periodic inspections and checks are conducted in the godowns of Food Corporation of India (FCI) by District, Regional, Zonal and Headquarter level Officers. Besides, Vigilance Division of FCI Headquarters also has the mandate of inspection of the godowns. The officers of Quality Control Cells of the Ministry also conduct super inspections of Central Pool foodgrains stocks. The details of squad inspections carried out during last three years by FCI are as under:

During the course of inspections, various irregularities such as purchase of beyond specification stocks, abnormal transit/storage losses, down gradation/damage of stocks, misappropriation of stocks and administrative lapses were noticed.
As and when discrepancies are observed during inspections, the same are brought to the notice of the concerned authorities to ensure immediate necessary corrective measures to rectify the shortcomings pointed out by the Inspecting team. On the basis of irregularities noticed, the disciplinary action are taken against the delinquent officers/officials.
(d): No. of cases where Departmental action has been initiated by vigilance wing of FCI against the employees for losses and quality related issues detected during the inspections are at Annex.
