(a) : The number of Indian Security Forces martyred in terrorist encounters in the hinterland of the country and Jammu & Kashmir during the last three years and the current year is at Annexure.
(b) : An ex-gratia lump sum compensation of Rs. 15 lakh is admissible to the Next of Kin (NoK) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles personnel, who die in harness in the performance of their bonafide official duties under various circumstances. The NoK of deceased is also entitled to get Liberalized Family Pension i.e. last pay

drawn. Besides, the CAPFs have their own compensation regime, apart from ex-gratia payment. Further, compensation is also paid under different schemes of the Ministry of Home Affairs like the Security Related Expenditure Scheme etc. Similarly, the Defence Forces have their own system of compensation for the Defence personnel.
Besides, 5% vacancies are reserved in Group āCā & āDā for compassionate appointments for NoK of the deceased personnel of CAPF and Assam Rifles (AR) personnel who sacrifice their lives fighting against the terrorism. Scholarship is also provided to the wards of deceased, retired and serving CAPFs & AR personnel under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. MBBS and BDS Seats are reserved for the wards of CAPFs & AR personnel. A Central Police Canteen has been introduced on 18/09/2006 to provide consumer goods of wide range and variety at desirable locations at cheaper rates. A Welfare and Rehabilitation Board has been established on 17/05/2007 for the welfare and rehabilitation of CAPF & AR personnel and their families including disabled personnel.
(c) : No such case has so far come to the notice of the Government.
