Question : Accomodation for Officers and Soldiers

(a) whether the Government has fixed any target to provide accomodation to all married officers/soldiers under the accomodation facility being provided to them and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether many housing projects are lying pending and if so, the details thereof and the initiatives of the Government to complete these pending projects; and

(c) whether the Government has made any special initiative to provide comfortable accomodation and other facilities to the army officers/soldiers and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Yes, Sir. 1,98,881 Dwelling Units (DUs) were planned for construction through Married Accommodation Project (MAP) route. The current status is as under:-

Ph-II 69,904 58,062 Probable Date of Completion (PDC) of MAP Ph-II is December 2023.

There was a plan to construct 71,102 DUs under MAP Ph-III, but an in-principle decision has been taken to construct further married accommodations through the Annual Major Works Programme (AMWP) route, instead of MAP.

(b) No, Sir. Currently, 38 contracts for balance 11,842 DUs of MAP Phase-II are in progress with a targeted PDC of December, 2023.

(c) Yes, Sir. In addition to MAP, critically required DUs are being taken up through the AMWP route by the respective Armed Forces.
Further, hiring of houses is undertaken for Defence Personnel to meet the deficiency of housing. Also, the Service Personnel have been authorized House Rent Allowance (HRA) / Compensation in Lieu of Quarter (CILQ) / Family Accommodation Allowance (FAA).
