STATEMENT TO BE LAID ON THE TABLE OF THE LOK SABHA IN RESPECT OF PART (a) TO (e) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.482 FOR 28TH APRIL, 2008 REGARDING SPEED POST GOLD SERVICE

(a) to (e) Speed Post Gold Service is not a notified service. This was introduced between Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore on trial basis for assessing market demand. Since the response to the test run has been poor and the service found commercially unviable, it has been decided to terminate the trial with effect from 30th April, 2008.
