STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 122 FOR 27.11.2002
(a)&(b): The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has provided financial assistance to voluntary organizations for setting up new hospitals/dispensaries in rural areas and to improve medical services under the following two schemes:-
(i) Special Health Scheme for Rural Areas: Under this Scheme, a maximum of Rs.8.00 lakhs was provided to voluntary organizations for setting up new hospitals/dispensaries in rural areas for construction of hospital building and Rs.4.00 lakhs for purchase of equipments. Financial Assistance provided under the Scheme was of non-recurring nature. The Scheme has, however, been discontinued from the financial year 2001-2002.
(ii) Scheme for Improvement of Medical Services: Under this Scheme, financial assistance upto a maximum of Rs.4.00 lakhs was provided to the Voluntary Organisations for expansion of hospital building/purchase of hospital equipments. The Scheme has been discontinued from the financial year 2002-2003.
The financial assistance is also provided to Voluntary Organisation/Non Government Organizations to set up/upgrade the eye care units in rural, tribal and under served areas.
(c): A statement is given as at Annexure-I and II
(d) &(e): The status of Utilization Certificates from the voluntary organization under the Schemes for Improvement of Medical Services and Special Health Scheme for Rural Areas is at Annexure -III.
Utilization Certificate in respect of grant provided for eye care unit have been received from the voluntary organizations wherever due.
