(a) to (d) : The following power projects were under
construction in Kerala during the last five years (i.e. from
1994-95 to 1998-99).
Hydro
1. Kallada (2x7.5 MW) Completed 2. Maniyar (3x4 MW) Completed 3. Lower Periyar (3x60 MW) Completed 4. Poringalkuthu (1x16 MW) Completed 5. Kakkad (2x25 MW) Completed 6. Malankara (3x3.5 MW) Under construction 7. Kuttiyadi Ext. (1x50 MW) Under construction 8. Kuttiyadi Tail Race (3x1.25 MW) Under construction
Works on Malankara (10.5 MW), Kuttiyadi Extension (50
MW) and Kuttiyadi Tail Race (3.75 MW) are in progress. Kuttiyadi
Extension is expected to be completed during th 9th Plan. Malan-
kara and Kuttiyadi Tail Race are likely to be completed beyond
the 9th Plan.
In addition the following hydro projects have been
cleared by CEA in Kerala:
1. Adirapally H.E. Project (2x80 MW)-Investment decision by Planning Commission awaited. 2. Puyankutty H.E. Project (2x120 MW)-Project still awaits clearance from MOEF from Forest angel.
Thermal
1. Brahmapuram DG Power Project (5x20 MW) Completed 2. Kozhikode DG Power Project (8x16 MW) Completed 3. Kayamkulam CCGT Power Project Completed (2x115.3 MW GT+1x119.4 MW ST) 4. Eloor CCGT Power Project (Cochin) Under construction (3x45 MW GT+1x38 MW ST) Fuel linkage given (M/s. BSES Kerala)(Liquid Fuel) 5. Project of M/s LOK EDL (107 MW) Fuel linkage given. (Liquid Fuel) Financial closure not achieved and not started.
In so far as Eloor CCGT Power Project (Cochin) is
concerned, three numbers of Gas Turbine Units having capacity of
45 MW each have already been synchronised and efforts being made
to complete the Steam Turbine Unit (38 MW) by March, 2000.
Besides the above, two additional thermal power
projects, namely, Vypeen CCGT project (679. 2 MW) by M/s. Siasin
Energy Limited and Kannur CCGT project (3x111.90 MW GT+1x177.3 MW
ST) by M/s. Kannur Power Project Private Limited, have been
cleared for implementation.
No proposal to set up new hydro and thermal power
project in Kerala is presently under examination in Central
Electricity Authority.
