THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SYED SHAHNAWAZ HUSSAIN)
(a) & (b) : A decision has been taken to disburse a one-time
grant of Rs. 1.50 crore (Rs. 0.50 crore for building and Rs. 1.00
crore for recurring expenditure on fellowship programme) to the
American Institute of Indian Studies, New Delhi during the year
2000-2001. The Institute has been promoting Indian Studies for
the last four decades. The Institute was facing financial crisis
due to drying up of support under the US-India Rupee Fund
Agreement, which expired in January, 1997.
