THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS (SHRI PON. RADHAKIRISHANAN)

(a) National Service Volunteers Scheme is aimed at providing opportunities to rural youth who have completed their first degree (intermediate in case of SC/ST) to enable them to make contribution to socio-economic progress of the country. Volunteers are deployed by National Service Scheme, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Bharat Scouts & Guides and State Governments for a period of one year extendable by another one year, at a monthly honorarium of Rs. 1000/-. The scheme encourages youth to involve themselves in nation building activities. Before deployment in the field, they undergo a well designed programme of training for 28 days.
