Question : Tourism Projects for Punjab under Swadesh Darshan Scheme

(a) whether the Government of India has developed/funded any project/projects within the State of Punjab, under the schemes of Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD during the last two years;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has earmarked any funds for Punjab under these schemes for the next five years; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Ministry of Tourism, under the schemes viz., Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) and “Integrated Development of Theme Based Tourist Circuit in the Country, Swadesh Darshan (SD)" provides Central Financial Assistance for infrastructure development and beautification of Tourist Centres/ Pilgrimage Centres on receipt of suitable DPRs submitted by State Governments/Union Territories, subject to availability of funds, liquidation of pending utilisation certificate against the fund released earlier and adherence to the relevant scheme guidelines.

Based on the proposal received from State the following project has been approved by Ministry of Tourism for the state of Punjab:
i. “Development of Heritage Circuit: Anandpur Sahib –Fatehgarh Sahib- Chamkaur Sahib-Ferozpur-Amritsar-Khatkar Kalan-Kalanour-Patiala in Punjab” approved in the year 2018-19 under Swadesh Darshan Scheme at the cost of Rs. 99.95 Crore. The project is to be completed in 24 months i.e up to August 2020.
ii. “Development of Karuna Sagar Valmiki Sthal at Amritsar” was approved under PRASHAD Scheme in 2015-16 at the cost of Rs.6.40 Crore. The project has been successfully completed in April 2018.
