Question : Creation of Jobs through Tourism

(a) whether the Government has any proposals under consideration to create more job opportunities to the youth in the country including Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand through tourism sector;
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) whether any proposal has been received from various State Governments including Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand Governments in this regard?

(a) to (c): Ministry of Tourism develops tourism related infrastructure and promotes India as a tourism destination to increase tourist arrivals and in turn create job opportunities in the country, including Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. In addition, it has also been the endeavor of the Ministry of Tourism to put in place a system of training and professional education to generate sufficient skilled manpower to meet the requirements of the tourism and hospitality sector. Some of the initiatives undertaken in this regard are:

1). Developing theme based tourist circuits under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
2). Developing identified pilgrimage destinations under the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Scheme.
3). Creating employable skills amongst youth under the special initiative ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’.
4). Setting up Institutes of Hotel Management/State Institutes of Hotel Management/Food Craft Institutes/Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management/Indian Culinary Institute etc.
