(a) At present, there are a total of 339 Community Radio Stations (CRS) operating across the country. Out of these 339 CRS, 65 are being operated by public entities and remaining 274 are being operated by not-for-profit private organizations/institutions. The details of these CRS are available on the Ministry’s website https://mib.gov.in/all_broadcasting_documents.
(b) The details of amount allocated/sanctioned by the Government for Community Radio Stations during the last five years, including the amount spent thereof, are as follows:

(c) The number of Community Radio Stations in the tribal areas (districts), in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are nine (09) and four (04) respectively. The Government of India has approved a Central Sector Scheme, namely ‘Supporting Community Radio Movement in India’, which envisages strengthening of new and existing Community Radio Stations (CRS) in the country, including Community Radio Stations in tribal areas, with resources, capacity and technology.
