(a) : From January, 1991 to December, 1999, Government has approved 10,324 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposals amounting to Rs. 209758.10 crore. Out of this, Rs. 101600.18 crore, which constitute 48.44% of the total FDI proposals have been received in the Infrastructure Sector.
(b) : Power Sector has attracted 225 FDI proposals i.e. 17.51% amounting to Rs. 36709.15 crore of the total FDI approved. No data on the benefits yielded by FDI with specific linkage to Power Sector is maintained.
