Question : Electricity Production by Renewable and Non-Renewable Sources

(a) the details of electricity production by renewable and non-renewable sources in the country during the last three years and the current year, year and Statewise;
(b) whether any new wind station, hydro power project and solar station has been set up by the Government during the said period and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government proposes to take any measure to increase the production of electricity by renewable sources; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) The details of state-wise electricity production by renewable (excluding large hydro) and conventional energy sources in the country during the last three years and the current year are given in Annexure-I & Annexure-II respectively.
(b): The details of wind, solar, hydro (small and large) capacity installed in the country during the last three years and current year (upto December 2020) are given below:

(c) & (d) The measures taken by the Government to increase the production of electricity by renewable energy sources in the country, inter-alia, include:

• permitting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) up to 100 percent under the automatic route,
• waiver of Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) charges and losses for inter-state sale of solar and wind power for projects to be commissioned by 30th June 2023,
• declaration of trajectory for Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) up to the year 2022,
• fiscal incentives such as accelerated depreciation, Goods and Services Tax (GST) at lower rates, concessional custom duty etc
• setting up of Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Parks to provide land and transmission on plug and play basis,
• Schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM), Solar Rooftop Phase II, 12000 MW CPSU Scheme Phase II, etc,
• laying of new transmission lines and creating new sub-station capacity under the Green Energy Corridor Scheme for evacuation of renewable power,
• notification of standards for deployment of solar photovoltaic system/devises,
• setting up of Project Development Cell for attracting and facilitating investments,
• Standard Bidding Guidelines for tariff based competitive bidding process for procurement of Power from Grid Connected Solar PV and Wind Projects.
• Government has issued orders that power shall be dispatched against Letter of Credit(LC) or advance payment to ensure timely payment by DISCOMs to RE generators.
