Question : MoU with Oman and Tunisia

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the government has signed an MoU to establish fertilizer units in Oman and Tunisia, if so, the details thereof; and

(b) whether some more MoUs have been signed to establish new fertilizer units in foreign countries, if so, the details thereof?

(a) : Yes, Madam. The Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Oman in 1994 to establish Ammonia-Urea plant with annual capacity of 16.52 lakh tonnes urea and 3.30 lakh tonnes of merchant Ammonia along with long term off-take agreement of Urea & Ammonia. However, there is no MoU signed between India and Tunisia.

(b) : Yes, Madam. The government has signed MoUs with some foreign countries to establish new fertilizer units. The details of the MoUs are placed at Annexure I.
